Any single measurement where the measurement of a specific component of the process is desired or a specific direct element such as caliper is needed.  This can be either a single sensor or multiple sensors:  The special sensors can be combined with other sensors to give a total picture of the manufacturing process:

1. urea application to a base sheet (urea as a binder to a nonwoven sheet
2. moisture content of a sheet
3. Using beta sensor and near IR sensor ( basis weight, moisture content, bone dry fiber, binder)
4. Laser caliper for roughness or with dual sided total thickness
